Not a happy outcome friends, My grandmother's home, Woods End, was demolished this morning. It happened fast. It's a hard pill to swallow, there was a glimmer of hope thanks to a few good citizens who really did try and save it, special thanks to Rita Evens, Kate Carter Walters, Rodelin Palmer, and my cousin Allen Palmer. It's hard to bare that it's gone now, they (the school board of Hidden Valley High School) didn't care, they didn't listen, they were not patient or honest in my opinion. If they were patient and honest, they would have tried harder to find the house new owners, or make magic happen for the people who did make offers and who did want to make it work, the board said that they would entertain offers but really their agenda never strayed from the pre determined demo schedule. They had no intention of entertaining an offer. While my family did sell the property years ago, I was always led to believe that they wanted the house for education purposes or offices for their school. At least that's what I thought. It happens to be my birthday today, not the best day to enjoy being 39. I will not forget this one. I keep finding myself painting landscapes  filled with "woods" so maybe it's my way of staying connected to Woods End. I am heartbroken and angry given what a waste this was. I was hoping that my little voice was heard by the board or that there was a better explanation or a little consideration or a little compassion, there was not, there never will be. Better stop writing now... A big thanks to the people who supported this and backed us all up. Very sad to lose an important part of history, especially when the bigger dream becomes a shitty parking lot.
